Let’s change to red! This week we have chosen a delicious fruit that has a big variety of recipes. Strawberries are the star this time and will prove to be and amazing ingredient both for sweet and salty dishes. Plus, it contains a great quantity of great properties for our body!
They are a great source of vitamin C, and therefore, a great antioxidant that boosts our metabolism, strengthens red blood cells and relieves the symptoms of the common cold.
Strawberries also have a good natural anti-inflammatory action and are good to treat asthma, osteoarthritis and atherosclerosis. What’s more, thanks to their high content of lecithin, pectin and ascorbic acid, they help reducing bad cholesterol.
Thanks to their high levels of potassium, they can improve diuresis and, consequently, detoxify our body and regulate blood pressure.
On the other hand, Vitamin K plus magnesium and potassium content improves our bone health. Among the B group, another important vitamin is the B6, which helps our body to regulate the production of hormones such as serotonin and to lower the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Strawberries are low in calories and rich in fiber and can therefore help decreasing appetite. Furthermore, they can boost our vision health, reducing macular degeneration.
Not bad, right? We are going to prepare a strawberry-quinoa salad and a no-bake strawberry cake.
Have a great week!
